Detection uses what the browser reports and can be imprecise. Browsers never report more than 8 GB of RAM.
System requirements

Approximate values. CS 1.6 itself is very light — most computers from the last 15 years run it.
Playing on a laptop
- Plug in the charger: on battery, Windows throttles the CPU and GPU.
- Switch the Windows power mode to “Best performance”.
- Two graphics chips? In Windows Settings → Display → Graphics, set hl.exe to “High performance”.
- Play in fullscreen at the native resolution — scaling costs FPS and adds input lag.
More FPS in a minute
- Update your graphics driver from the NVIDIA, AMD or Intel website.
- Close browsers and launchers running in the background.
- Turn off vertical sync in the video settings.
- Keep the game on an SSD if you have one — maps load faster.
